OIL PAINTINGS
Tropical Maze
This series of paintings I have been adding to yearly since 2019 profoundly reflects my identity and sensual development of how I perceive the world.
The third painting (Tropical Maze III) has received an award from Gakuten, and it was exhibited at the National Art Centre, Tokyo, from the 26th November to 6th December 2021.
Flower Portrait (Peony)
Flower Portraits depict the flower's fragile position by painting a close-up of a wilting flower. Wilting flowers are often associated with losing vitality and grief. However, caring for flowers showed me how fragile life can be but simultaneously still so beautiful past one's peak. Peonies symbolise uniqueness and positive energy. I used symbolism and big brushstrokes to show how wilting flowers can be fragile while beautiful.

Directions
They are different sceneries I encountered during my trip to Japan.I have specifically chosen this location because these are the daily scenes of people who have guided and taught me the way to my destination. The sceneries were stunning, and I have also depicted people’s daily lives, an anaesthetic commonly used in Japanese art.

Meditation
This series of paintings are inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist art workshop I attended, and I enjoyed learning that Buddhist artworks are used for meditation purposes.
When I visited the ocean during the New Year, the scenery of the tranquil sea made me feel like I was meditating. I observed the sea at different times to study how the lights change from sunrise to sunset by depicting the numerous sequences. I have chosen a round canvas because the shape symbolises infinite and timelessness.

Jo Ha Kyu (序破急)
This artwork is a study of visualising a sequential rhythmic principle. It was inspired by a Noh play called Lady Aoi. (Noh: a theatrical art form comprised of drama, music, and dance elements). It involves ritual religious performances influenced by Zen Buddhism.
Jo Ha Kyu(序破急) means introduction-development-fast finale. Each sequence includes a complex psychological state, and I visualised the emotions in an abstract style for this painting.

Chiang Mai
I went to Chiang Mai, Thailand for one week and did a volunteering service at the Children Shelter Foundation. Inspired by the energetic and friendly children I painted a scene of a boy, James swimming in the pool, and a girl Wanida on a small bus driving to a local snack store.
